Nose-Art...the Genesis of the Pin-up Girl, commonly painted on the nose of an aircraft. It was a way for flight crews to cope with the stress of climbing into the fuselage of their war machine. It reflected the crew's need for camaraderie and spirit: a morale booster, especially during World War II, as they faced challenging conditions and high casualty rates. The art evolved during conflicts like the Vietnam War and the Gulf War such as the Spooky C130 Gunship.
In our explorations of aircraft boneyards, we came across a few examples. Even with colors faded, stained, and dented, you can truly feel the ghosts of the brave men and women who gazed one last time upon their lucky charm before daring to climb aboard - it is inspiration for this collection with new designs to come.
